Mitsubishi WD-60638

The Mitsubishi WD-60638 represents one of those cases where you start to suspect something must be too good to be true. A really cheap TV that also has veritable excellent picture quality…hmmm…hold on a second something must be up, right? Well fortunately in this case, no – it actually is what it is – a true bargain.

I’m one of those people who just can’t help but search out bargains and save money in general – you probably know the kind. Well anyway because of that trait I spent quite a long time trying to find a good balance between quality and price and at the end of it all found the Mitsubishi WD-60638 to be the winner.

I’m not going to beat around the bush – the Mitsubishi WD-60638 is by far THE best deal out there if you’re looking to buy a 3D TV/HDTV for a low price but aren’t will to sacrifice on the quality front. In fact we haven’t sacrificed anything – the quality is far better than many of the higher priced models out there.

At 60 inches it’s REALLY large – the largest we’ve ever owned, however it’s not as heavy as one would expect only weighing in at around 70 pounds or so. This meant we could handle it ourselves. Being a DLP with 16 inches depth means that you can’t mount it on a wall so we just bought a special stand for it.

What was the Mitsubishi WD-60638 like to start with?

Setting it up was really easy and fast – I’m not really an expert when it comes to configuring the brightness, colors etc however there are a bunch of presets that seem to fit all situations we’ve come across. I just followed the easy to follow instructions and voila.

After that our family had a series of “ohhh” and “ahhh” moments as we were trying out the HDTV channels due to the awesomeness of the image. The Mitsubishi WD-60638 picture quality is quite literally nothing short of fantastic.

You would expect some kind of granularity or detrimental effect due to the sheer size of the unit but it to the contrary the clarity was superb. The picture quality is its strong point and since it’s a TV it is actually the most important factor (besides price).

The kids watched some movies that came with the pack we bought together with the TV and they absolutely loved it as according to them it felt like almost being part of the scene at times

We had also bought the 3DA1 3D converter so that we could use the 3D capabilities. I used to think that 3D TVs were a gimmick to sell more TV’s – I now stand corrected. I was pleasantly surprised – the experience is similar to in the cinema – albeit not quite at that level but still convincing nonetheless.

Overall this TV is a winner in our family and also our bank account. I unreservedly recommend the Mitsubishi WD-60638 to anyone looking for a top of the line picture quality and get it for a modest price that won’t leave you hurting afterwards.
